Arrow How to setup Google email for domain name on cPanel server

If you wish to host email with Google Apps, you need to disable local mail server then update MX records within DNS zone. In this tutorial we'll add google mail to domain name "www.mywest.net":

1. Go to https://support.google.com/a/answer/174125?hl=en then copy MX (mail exchange) records.
2. Open Web Hosting Manager (main control panel) then navigate "DNS functions > Edit DNS zone" > select domain name you wish to modify. We selected "mywest.net" then clicked "edit" button on the bottom.

You'll see something similar:

3. Please replace first local MX record with Google MX. You only need to replace priority from 0 to 1 and change MX record:

4. On the bottom please add 4 other MX listed here: https://support.google.com/a/answer/174125?hl=en It must look like this:

5. Finally, at very bottom please check "REMOTE" mail exchanger:

Then click "Save".

Questions and Answers about external email servers.

I am in a hurry, can I add just one google MX server?

We've seen this a lot. This would work out, but single MX doesn't offer any redundancy. In case of google outage, your domain will bounce emails. PLEASE use all 5 MX records.

My php form stopped sending emails out. What the...

That's because you disabled local email services. Email is being hosted with google, so you should send email connecting to smtp with username@domain.com and password.

How would I access google webmail, calendar and other apps after changes?

You can access here: https://accounts.google.com/

I've been waiting for 48 hours and still don't receive any email. How can I verify MX and DNS records?

You should run some free DNS tests here: http://www.intodns.com (no registration required) or here: http://www.dnsstuff.com (registration required)
