If you registered domain name with Godaddy (http://www.godaddy.com) or Cityofdomains (http://www.cityofdomains.com) and wish to register private DNS (private name servers) like ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com, please follow these steps:
1. Please login to support desk: https://support.westnic.net then request two FREE dedicated IPs for private DNS. Example of the ticket: "Hello, I need private DNS IPs for domain name mydomain.com. I will use ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com. Thank you!"
2. As soon as you get those IPs, please login to Godaddy or Cityofdomains registrars:
http://www.godaddy.com
http://www.cityofdomains.com
3. On the top select "Domains > My Domain Names".
4. Select domain name you wish to modify.
5. It's impossible to register private DNS in "LOCKED" status. If you see "LOCKED", please unlock it: Locked > change > unlock.
6. PLEASE wait for 5 minutes.
7. Click "Domains" on the top. You will see list of your domains again.
8. Select domain name you wish to modify.
9. On the bottom left corner please select "Host summary - add".
10. In "host name" type you name server, for example, ns1
11. Then enter "Host IP 1" - first IP you got from us (see step #1)
12. Click "OK".
13. Go back to "Host summary - add".
14. In "host name" type you name server, for example, ns2
15. Then enter "Host IP 2" - second IP you got from us (see step #1)
16. Click "OK".
17. PLEASE lock your domain name!
Your private DNS will be registered within 24-72 hours.
18. Please update previous ticket (see step #1) when you complete registration. We MUST add your private DNS to our network and WHM, otherwise, they won't work properly!
Tips:
a) Please do not attempt to register primary IP as a secondary name server (vice versa). You must use first IP for ns1 and second IP for ns2.
b) We DO NOT recommend to use domain names in other TLD zones. For example, .tv, .ws and other international zones. Please use ".com, .net or .org". If you don't have domain name in those zones, you should register new one for private DNS. It doesn't break your budget and will work without any issues.
c) Please wait for 24-72 hours for full DNS propagation.
