With the mercury hovering around the 100-degree mark Tuesday, and more hot temperatures expected tomorrow (110F), New York City is under a heat emergency.

Con Edison says New Yorkers used a record amount of electricity during peak hours Tuesday. Demand reached 13,103 megawatts at 5 p.m., beating the previous record set last year on July 27th by about 40 megawatts.

To insure 24/7 operation, WestNIC has been prepaired for any possible electric outage:

- 10 kVA APC UPS (uninterruptible power supplies) are ready to go
- VoIP phone system backed by 2 kVA diesel generator
- VoIP system will roll over to land line in the case of failure.
- Emergency lights
- Clean clothes
- 3-day water supply, ice coolers, snacks etc.
- Medical supplies

Please note that we do not host any customer servers in our local office. Servers are hosted in professional data centers with own APC systems, HVAC and Diesel generators.
